Are you a mom to little ones or expecting a baby? If so, I urge you to check out MommyCon! In March, I attended the MommyCon Chicago event and it was so much more than I expected. I'm a bit of an introvert, so to say I was nervous is an understatement. Not to mention the fact that I was just getting into the nursing groove with our youngest, Savy Baby and not a nursing in public expert by any means. MommyCon promised to be a nursing and baby wearing friendly environment so I decided it just might be a great experience after all. Savy Baby and I set off around eight o'clock on a Sunday morning for our very first adventure together. Of course, my Boba 4G came along too!
I can tell you it was a very cold March day but inside MommyCon is was so warm and welcoming. From the moment I arrived and walked through the door through every single interaction, I felt accepted, appreciated and loved by so many moms walking along similar paths of my own. There were moms of all walks of life. Moms who were breastfeeding, pumping exclusively, bottlefeeding, and moms of baby's who were past that point. There were moms with crazy colored hair and moms who looked plain Jane. Mom's who were super green and extra-crunchy and those that weren't. All of us together as a group, uniting as moms all with the same goal and desire: To give our children the very best. No judgement allowed.
The day was amazing. It was filled with tons of expert led sessions, such as The Badass Breastfeeder, The Leaky Boob, The Baby Guy NYC, Honest Toddler, and many more!
There was an interactive expo filled with tons of sponsors and their products for us to learn about, speak with and try out with our little ones. There was a babywearing lounge, where you could try out various carriers with your babies and toddlers. Tons of cars eats and baby gear, like strollers, to test drive.
In terms of amenities, they were plentiful, from the well organized and stocked baby diaper changing stations to the comfortable nursing and feeding lounge, moms and babies/toddlers were well taken care of.
I was a little nervous about being able to bring a baby and still listen to the speakers, but as soon as I arrived and the first speaker began I realized how laid back this event was. If you needed to nurse your baby during the speech, you could. If baby/toddler/older child needed to stretch and play, there was a huge play area filled with toys at the back of the main speaking room. The perfect solution so mom could listen and the little ones could play.
Check out the below video giving you a sneak peek inside this event!
The final piece that I want to tell you about is the swag bag! Check out some of the amazing stuff that you get just for attending! Those Munchkin swaddles are AMAZING and we still use them months later!
Overall, I really loved attending the MommyCon Chicago event and I plan on returning next year!
