By now, you have likely seen or heard that sitting in a desk chair can be really hard on your body. I work outside the home at a desk job and over the years I have seen a number of colleagues attempt and fail at sitting on those giant inflatable exercise balls.  They always seem like a good idea, but before you know it you are rolling off of it, having to refill it constantly, and it is just too much of a nuisance to be healthy.

What if there was a solution that reduce the aches and pains of your office chair, but was safer than sitting on a ball?

Introducing Ergo Ergo!
Ergo Ergo is an active sitting object that allows your body to move freely and safely while you work.  No more inflating/deflating those balls or suddenly rolling off! The revolutionary design of Ergo Ergo allows your body to use it's core muscles to balance you at your desk without any of the worry.

For review, I received the Adult Ergo Ergo in black. Immediately upon opening it,every adult in my home had to try it out.  It's really an interesting sitting surface. Upon sitting on it, I could feel myself using my core muscles to balance, yet I still felt secure enough that I wasn't going to fall over without warning.  It is flexible in that it allows me to adjust my body in any direction easily and safely while helping to improve my posture and core muscle strength. Since I work at a desk 9 hours a day, I decided to bring it in to my office and try it out.  Of course, my coworkers were all intrigued by it and had to give it a whirl too.  We all agree that we really don't like sitting in office chairs all day and our backs often hurt as a result. Don't get me wrong, our desk chairs are some of the best out there, but unfortunately they are still a chair with structure that limits our body's ability to adjust to a healthy upright sitting position.

My experience on the Ergo Ergo at work was very positive.  I am 5'2" tall and I did find it to be a little bit tall when I tried to sit directly center on the top.  But, thanks to the flexible design, I was able to adjust my angle and sitting position slightly and get a better fit. After about an hour, my back definitely felt better than when I sit in my desk chair and I could feel my posture improving.  So, besides the strange looks from office staff, I would say this is definitely something I will continue to use at my desk.

What about kids? I know that Savy Preschooler does so much better at school when he is allowed to stand at a table and complete a task so he can move his body more freely than when he is sitting in a standard chair.  What if they had these instead? The Kids Ergo Ergo would be perfect for this!

We received the Kids Ergo Ergo in yellow. Since I can't send it to my child's preschool for a trial, we tested it out at home. Savy Preschooler is 4.5 years old and 40" tall, so it is a little bit high for him.  Just the same, he really loves his Ergo Ergo.  He actually balances on it while he enjoys his one hour of free time in the afternoon which he usually spends watching a movie or playing video games. Just like with the adult version, the Kid Ergo Ergo allows the child to adjust their body freely and safely.  It's durable and a really eye-appealing yellow color which the kids love! When they aren't sitting on it, they also like to roll it across the room.  I definitely think this will remain a staple in our home and likely we will invest in a few more as the years go by.  I think these will be really great for our kids to sit on while they complete their homework in the future.

Overall, we really like the design and ingenuity of the Ergo Ergo.  They are great for any office or classroom setting and allow adults and children to sit more freely which improves your posture and overall health.

  5. I would love to get my daughter something like this. I am a little skeptical as to whether I would find it comfortable myself. I tend to like a chair that gives good back support. They are super cute and stylish, I would love to try one out and see how comfortable they really are.
