Daily Random Thoughts 2015 - Day #2: Twister Game #twister #2015 #randomthoughts

Welcome back to Day #2 of "Daily Random Thoughts!" Today, I thought about the game Twister. If you were like me, you had this game as a kid and it was sometimes fun and sometimes weird and awkward.  Either way, it is one of those timeless games that has been around and pretty much stayed the same for a very long time.

Who invented it? Two gentlemen by the name of Charles F. Foley and Neil Rabens submitted it for patent, but there is also a man named Reyn Guyer who is credited with creating it as a promotion for a shoe company. (source: Wikipedia)
When was it invented? It was created around 1964 and put to patent in 1966 and originally named "Pretzel" but Milton Bradley rebranded it as "Twister" before it went to market.(source: Wikipedia)
Here is a video of the original commercial

What was the original price of it? $3.88 (source: The People History)
How many versions have there been? It's unclear how many different designs the game box has taken on, but it is clear that there have been four "spin-off" versions of the game. These all came about after Hasbro acquired Milton-Bradley in 1985. (source: Wikipedia)
Is there a World Record for the largest game ever played? Yep! On June 18, 2010, a game of twister using 1008 Twister game mats and measuring 24,156 square feet on a football field in Belcherton, Massachusetts. (source: Wikipedia)
