Day #14: I Am In LOVE TNMBN Giveaway Event

Its Valentine's Day

and Day 14 of the I'm in Love event hosted by Savy Mommy Moments and the Thrifty Nifty Mommy Blogger Network....and we're in LOVE with Boba!

Ever since I researched babywearing, I was a fan.  I knew as soon as Buddy Doo was here I would need one to keep up the house, take care of errands, and of course keep Buddy Doo close.  Newborns love being held (something Buddy Doo hasn't outgrown) and babies of all ages are more likely to be soothed when worn.  Every time I've been to our local grocery store and seen a mother blushing because she can't calm down her baby, its because they are uncomfortable in their car seat or wanting to be held.  I forgot my carrier at home once while grocery shopping and let's just say it was a very unproductive trip.  Not only do your arms begin to ache after awhile (Buddy Doo is a whopping 23 lbs!), but you end up spending at least twice as long trying to do everything with only one free hand.  I can't stress how much of a relief it is to be able to actually push the shopping cart with BOTH hands while your little one is being worn.  He's happier, I'm happier, and strangers are less likely to pass their icky germs off onto your baby when you're holding them.

(So easy to self-soothe, plus look at those cushy straps!)

After falling in love with babywearing, we've acquired a wrap, a sling, two front carry soft-structured carriers, and two front/back/side soft-structured carriers.  By far, our favorite is our Boba 3G!  We use it everywhere.  So much in fact, Buddy Doo gets excited and tries to 'jump' in his car seat when I strap it on before setting him in.  It soothes him so he can enjoy and peacefully interact with his surroundings, and its one of the only ways to relax him to sleep now that he has begun teething.  It seems like every day I find something new that I just adore about it.

(passed out while front-carrying during a regular Hobby Lobby trip!)

First, let me begin with how functional it is.  It is my first ever carrier to have a hood to protect from rain, direct sunlight, and invasive strangers.  You don't realize how awesome this feature is until you find yourself in a dilemma: you parked two aisles over, its raining not just down (you have an umbrella for that) but SIDEWAYS, and your teething son is finally relaxed enough to catch some rest.  What do you do?  You can run as fast as you can while trying desperately to keep the blanket you have covering your car seat from blowing away, all the while your attempts at shielding the two of you from the rain with your umbrella is in vain, only to result in two very wet, very cranky individuals.  Or, you can unzip the handy dandy pocket that your hood fits neatly in, quietly snap it on, (everything snaps, zips, or buckles so you won't disturb your little one.  Just love that!) unfold your umbrella, and viola!  You have two free hands, one for the shopping cart (if you have one), one for the umbrella, and two dry, happy campers.

It doesn't stop there: there's a pocket on the waist strap that can hold your debit card, cash, phone, etc and is secured with a zipper closure so you don't have to worry about any of it falling out.  There's also a pouch on top of this zippered pocket!  If you  remove the hood from its pocket on top, you will have additional storage there too.  There are loops that you can attach toys to on the arm straps as well.  They unsnap if your toy has a solid loop and unable to 'hook' itself, but are skinny enough for toy rings that can 'hook' to slip right on.  This has been a lifesaver for our drooling and teething little man; we have been able to hook on a few toy loops and attach a teether, keeping it both within arms reach for our Buddy Doo but without worrying about the dropping hazard.

The shoulder straps are super plush, and both the waist and arm straps are easily adjusted to fit different sizes.  The carrier is made of 100% cotton and I'm impressed with how strong and durable the fabric feels.  Buddy Doo overheats easily, and living in humid southern Louisiana makes finding a carrier with fabric and materials that still keep him cool (while still being strong enough to carry him) when worn very difficult.  I haven't had an issue with this yet, but Boba also makes another carrier (Boba Air) that we may get in the summer months if it occurs.

Whether front or back-carrying, the weight is evenly distributed between the shoulders and waist to make both long distance hikes or quick errands convenient.  Unlike other carriers, there's no fabric between you and your child so if you breastfeed you can nurse discreetly if you need to.  The Boba 3G is designed for both newborns, babies, and toddlers approximately 7 to 45 pounds (trust me, that's a HUGE range in a carrier!) and designed to fit parents 5' - 6'3".  You don't even have to worry about an extra insert as it adjusts to an infant carrier on its own!  Not only does it include the removable sleeping hood mentioned previously, it also comes with removable foot straps to help keep that seated position when carrying a toddler.  It's even daddy-approved in their limited edition camouflage print (don't worry, there's also super cute girly prints, as well as simple solids)! The hubs is pretty excited about our first family vacation now: we're going to Hawai'i next year, and he's already said we better not forget our Boba for when we go hiking!  We LOVE our Boba and highly recommend it among all others if you are in the market for a new soft-structured front and back-carry carrier.

Buy it: You can buy your very own Boba 3G carrier in one of their gorgeous prints at Boba's website for $120-125.  They also have some fab wraps, a lightweight and diaper bag-friendly Boba Air, organic carriers, and accessories!

  25. My son just loves the foot supports, or stirrups as my oldest son calls them, as they allow him to 'stand' in the boba which he keeps trying to do in other carriers but fails.
